XMS STP is a monitoring & routing open system. Fully integrated with all solutions of the XMS product range, XMS STP tracks transactions all the way through their life cycle; it “drives” the transactional chain, just like a GPS. Alerting users to issues that require attention and automating exception management, XMS STP reduces risk exposure and offers tighter control of operational procedures.
Thanks to its technological features and its unique design, XMS STP is easy to integrate into existing IT environments ; it operates like a wide-open data processing system :
- Data integration : any format from any source
- Data management : triggered actions (actions under condition(s) : e.g. SWIFT MT creation and validation), alerts, inquiries and reports
- Data comparison (matching): reconciliations and controls
- Data enhancement : misquoted information structuration, poor data enhancement (addition of fields, messages creation, ...)
Superior matching functionality of XMS solutions enables firms to significantly increase their STP rates. Designed to offer full flexiblity and comprehensive functionality, XMS STP monitors the system activity in all XMS modules :
- continually tracking transactions as they pass through their lifecycles
- automatically alerting users on issues before they could turn into problems
- automatically working with other applications when required
From a passive (static) solution
Where users perform regular queries on the system (inquiry-driven approach)
?
XMS STP propels it towards a dynamic business conception
Which pro-actively warns users and/or triggers actions ; in other words : a business intelligence system which is driven by priority and risk (events-driven approach)
Alerts
User-defined flexible alerts enable to detect any activity, any event, ... that could occur and should require attention/intervention. In other words, XMS STP highlights a comprehensive range of issues, from system performance /failures to transaction breaks. Thanks to a Graphically Aided Design tool, XMS STP allows users to define any type of alerts by utilizing any criteria combination. Either a single user or a users’ group can be alerted on
specific issue(s). The ability to create an unlimited number of alerts within an escalation structure (following priority and risk levels), makes XMS STP a powerfull device for different managers and users : IT, Operations, Risk, Audit, Internal Control, ... Fine-tuning alerts’ definition drastically reduces the need to process manual actions and provides a unique control on the system.
Business alerts
- outstanding (exception or exceptions’ group) ; according to various criteria : age, amount, valuation, risk level, ... and any combination of these
- no response from third parties (within a defined timeframe)
- balance discrepancies
- settlement anomalies
- unknown account
- reversals
- suspect transaction
- suspect set of transaction (according to frequency and/or accumulation)
- …
System alerts
- “no-event” detection
- architecture failures
- Connection to database
- Connection with file systems, queues,
- …
- system performance (drops in match rates, ...)
- …
Exceptions Detection and Management
As soon as they appear, exceptions are identified and automatically directed to appropriate user(s) for rapid and efficient resolution. For either a single exception or an exceptions’ group, a case is created. User-defined rule(s) streamline the investigation path, the resolution flow. The exception(s) case includes :
- related exceptions and correspondences (in & out ; internal & external)
- note book : any comment (based on templates), any other relevant information (text and/or image insertion), user can add up as many notes as needed
- full or semi automated follow-ups based on pre-defined templates, and pre-defined scheduling
- dynamic and multi way dashboard grouping exceptions by :number of notes, number of follow-ups, valuation ranges, risk levels, age ranges,... and by any combination of these
- single point of access for all exceptions, throughout all reconciliation types
Triggered Actions & Inter Connectivity
XMS STP operates wih other systems in order to interact with other applications. Under pre-defined condition(s), XMS STP triggers actions to give the hand to implied systems (in the workflow). In other words, XMS STP drives the transactional chain and thus enhances operational fluidity.
- connection to front, middle and back office systems (general ledgers)
- starting or exiting a program
- sending e-mails
- writing/reading in databases, repositories, ...
- connection to financial messaging systems
- connection to SWIFT interfaces
- generation and validation of SWIFT messages
- …
Pro Active Risk Control
XMS STP automatically attributes a risk level to transactions requiring attention. These risk levels facilitate alerts escalation and exceptions follow-up and resolution. A dynamic dashboard shows an overall view of the exceptions, differently splitted in various possible groups according to : risks levels, age ranges, valuation ranges, ... All exception information is available from the dashboard.
